Serbian organizers of the festival in Novi Sad from EXIT agency emailed a statement to Iceland review that there are only rumours; they called off Björk’s concert. The general manager of EXIT agency, Bojan Bošković, said: “These stories are untrue. We have never cancelled any artist’s performance because of their political point-of-view.”
EXIT agency was one of the first agencies in Serbia which boycotted the Milošević regime. The commission works for nine years and it is mostly composed by students.
The news agency Associated Press reported today that meanwhile Björk performed the song “Declare of Independence” for Tibet in her concert in Shanghai, China. She clearly backed Tibetan independence from China with this gesture what baffled her Chinese fans.
