Fabiano Caruana – another young surprise of Reykjavik Open

Another young chess star, four years older than Nuzhnyk, but still only 15 years old Fabiano Caruana, is one of the biggest surprises of the Reykjavík Open 2008. After five rounds Fabiano leaded the tournament ranking ahead of Icelandic Hannes Stefansson. After 7th round, he is on the 4th place.

Fabi was born in Miami, USA to Italian parents; therefore he has dual citizenship – American and Italian. He decided to represent Italy. Caruana started to play chess when he was six years old. To pursue his professional chess career the family decided to move to Spain and Hungary. In spite of his young age, this teenager has score 2598 of ELO points, at the moment.
